The school, named after Ishwarchand Vidyasagar, an eminent social worker, freedom fighter & a visionary, was born near Calcutta in a small village Vanmalipur in Modinipur district. He is a pioneer in the field of education who contributed whole-heartedly in this area. He obtained a degree in law & was thorough in subjects like Maths, Literature, Vedanta, Sanskrit, & Astrology. As a social worker he has done a lot for the upliftment of the status of Indian women.

He laid emphasis on Higher Education and was a believer in the philosophy, "Spreading of knowledge & education can inculcate social & moral values in an individual". With this thought prevailing on his mind he established several normal schools. He stressed on the methods of learning so that education could be imparted in a more effective manner. He never was interested in religious reforms, all he said was, " Following a methodology in a proper manner is education".

Vidyasagar School, Indore is a C.B.S.E. school located in a sprawling campus of more than 3 hectares of land on the outskirts of Indore. It was established in 1991 and has classes from Nursery to XII at present. The Senior secondary classes have Science and Commerce options. The activities include compulsory Swimming, N.C.C., Scouting, Yoga, Karate, Football, Basketball, Dance, Music, Arts etc.

It was due to the dedicated efforts of Hon. Rameshwar Patel,(Chairman & Founder) that this school has scaled new heights in the field of education. He has spent his invaluable time & energy to establish this center to provide it with the best of resources available.
